the bed wasn't particularly comfortable but served its purpose for a one night stay - the small nature of the bedroom, dormitory and common areas make it a bit cramped. there is no WiFi (although there is at O'Leary's). This could be a problem if the hostel was full. Downsides: - none of the rooms have ensuite provisions and there are just two shower rooms.

Other walkers had accommodation at B&Bs around Caherdaniel but then found they had to walk of the order of 3km to 4km at night with head torches on to get a meal at O'Leary's their B&Bs were also off the track. There isn't much at Caherdaniel - there is a small shop with basics, there is a decent pub (O'Leary's) with good food and there is Travellers Rest hostel situated right on the Kerry Way. This is a small and quite basic hostel but it does have character and it is very well situated for walkers.
